Biography

Pastoria’s Gym Leader brings professional-wrestling showmanship to Water-type battles. He is closely associated with the city and its Great Marsh.

Appearance

Wake wears a wrestler’s mask and blue wrestling gear, giving him a distinctive ring-ready look.

Personality

Loud and enthusiastic, he values an exciting match and is protective of the people around him.

Role in the story

After the fifth Gym battle, the Great Marsh disturbance draws the player into pursuit of Team Galactic.

Gameplay and encounters

First Gym battle in Platinum: Gyarados Lv. 33; Quagsire Lv. 34; Floatzel Lv. 37. Electric attacks are excellent against Gyarados, but Quagsire is immune to them. Grass moves exploit Quagsire’s double weakness; Floatzel is fast.

Gym puzzle

Press the coloured switches to raise or lower the water and change which walkways are accessible.

Badge and TM rewards

Win the Fen Badge and TM55 Brine. The badge allows Surf outside battle once you have the HM. These are the first Gym teams, not the later Battleground rematches.
