Lucas / Dawn
Player and research assistant. The character you do not choose assists Professor Rowan. Their appearances introduce research tasks and help connect the journey between towns.
Professor Rowan
Pokédex researcher. Rowan begins your research assignment. Recording a species as seen and actually catching it are different Pokédex milestones; read the requirement for each reward carefully.
Barry
Recurring rival. His starter depends on yours and his team develops during the story. Prepare broader coverage before each meeting instead of assuming his opening team remains unchanged.
Cynthia
Champion and story ally. She appears during the investigation into Sinnoh’s history and later tests a mixed-type team. Keep several trained answers rather than building around one type advantage.
Cyrus
Team Galactic leader. His plans drive the lake and mountain story gates. If a route is blocked, finish the current Galactic objective before searching unrelated caves.
Looker
Investigator. His appearances help frame Team Galactic’s activity in Platinum. Do not expect the identical sequence of encounters in Diamond or Pearl.
