Biography
Hilbert is the male player character of the original Unova games. His journey begins alongside childhood friends Cheren and Bianca.
Appearance
Hilbert wears a cap, blue outerwear and a travelling bag.
Personality
His personality is intentionally open, allowing the player’s decisions and Pokémon team to define the adventure. His role differs from later appearances in crossover games.
Role in the story
He challenges Unova’s Gyms while becoming involved with N and Team Plasma’s claims about Pokémon freedom. The first ending changes the usual Champion-battle structure.
Gameplay and encounters
He has no fixed playable roster beyond the player’s choices. Reusable TMs make experimenting with coverage easier, but each move still needs to suit the Pokémon’s offensive stats.
