Dungeons and collection basics
A starter guide to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: learn targeting first, read dungeon tools together, track age and access, keep a collectible checklist.
Original Nintendo 64 quest; not Master Quest or the 3DS remake.
Learn targeting first
Z-targeting helps you keep an enemy in view. Practise defending and moving around a target before attacking; a safe opening matters more than repeatedly swinging your sword.
Read dungeon tools together
The map helps with layout, while the compass identifies useful room information. When stuck, check unexplored rooms and consider where the dungeon’s new item could remove an earlier obstacle.
Track age and access
Child and adult Link have different equipment and routes. Record which age is needed when you leave a collectible behind, so you know how to return.
Keep a collectible checklist
There are 100 Gold Skulltula tokens and 36 Pieces of Heart in the original game. Track the location and any time-of-day requirement rather than only your total.
