Goombella
Information and enemy analysis. Tattle reveals enemy information; field dialogue explains people and locations. Use her before guessing why an unfamiliar enemy resists a normal attack.
Koops
Shell reach and grounded targets. His field shell reaches distant objects and switches. In battle, consider enemy height and defence rather than treating every target as equally suitable.
Flurrie
Wind and concealment puzzles. Blows away certain coverings in the field. When scenery looks suspiciously layered, try her ability before searching for a key elsewhere.
Yoshi partner
Fast travel and short gaps. Carries Mario and crosses appropriate gaps. His Gulp can help with armoured enemies; inspect the target arrangement and available FP.
Vivian
Hiding and fire-oriented attacks. Her field move hides Mario in the shadows. This can solve detection or timing situations that ordinary movement cannot.
Admiral Bobbery
Explosives. His field bomb breaks suitable obstacles and reaches some triggers. Allow for the delay rather than expecting an instant detonation on contact.
Ms. Mowz
Optional treasure-finding partner. Recruited through a Trouble Center quest. Her field ability helps locate nearby treasure, making her useful for revisiting areas after the main route.
