Collectibles and completion
Optional discoveries, useful collections and completion goals in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
Spoiler notice: This guide discusses story progression or late-game content.
Original GameCube release; the Switch remake has changes not covered here.
Star Pieces
Search corners and suspicious spaces as new partner abilities become available. Star Pieces can be traded for badges, so keeping track of them can improve your battle options.
Shine Sprites
Shine Sprites pay for partner upgrades. These are a separate resource from the Crystal Stars that drive the story.
Badges and recipes
Badges change combat at the cost of BP, while recipes expand item options. Keep a collection log and avoid treating duplicate inventory entries as new discoveries.
Use the edition note above when comparing a checklist with another release. Story completion, collecting and platform achievements are separate goals.
