Collectibles and completion
Optional discoveries, useful collections and completion goals in Metal Gear Solid.
Spoiler notice: This guide discusses story progression or late-game content.
Original Metal Gear Solid campaign. Not The Twin Snakes. Konami’s Master Collection manual is used for shared mechanics; button mappings vary.
Weapons and gadgets
Track equipment by where it becomes accessible and what security access is required. Revisit a room with the appropriate card instead of assuming an earlier locked door is decorative.
Supplies and storage
Rations and ammunition are practical supplies, not permanent completion tokens. Keep a useful reserve before boss encounters rather than collecting only to fill an inventory bar.
Special unlockables
Ending-related rewards can encourage another playthrough. These belong to the game’s unlockables, not a native PlayStation trophy list; later collections have their own separate achievements.
Use the edition note above when comparing a checklist with another release. Story completion, collecting and platform achievements are separate goals.
