Solid Snake
Playable infiltrator. Progress depends on observation, equipment and mission information. A stronger weapon does not remove the need to understand a patrol route.
Roy Campbell
Mission command. Provides briefings and objective context. Call when the next story destination is unclear instead of searching every previously visited room.
Mei Ling
Save support. Use her Codec contact to save regularly. Multiple slots are useful before a major encounter or a long sequence.
Naomi Hunter
Medical support. Her conversations provide medical and story context. She is a support contact rather than an in-person shop for restoring health.
Otacon / Hal Emmerich
Technical ally. Provides information connected to the facility and its technology. Pay attention to his explanations when a technical obstacle changes the route.
Meryl Silverburgh
On-site ally. Her encounters connect combat, navigation and story events. Follow contextual clues rather than expecting her to behave like a permanently controllable party member.
Nastasha Romanenko
Weapons specialist. Offers weapon-related information through the Codec. A useful contact when an unfamiliar tool or threat needs explanation.
Liquid Snake and FOXHOUND
Principal enemy group. Ocelot, Raven, Wolf and Mantis present distinct encounters. Treat their weapons and arenas as clues to the required approach.
