Alucard
Main exploration character. His equipment, relics and spells drive the castle campaign. The main walkthrough assumes his inventory-based progression rather than an alternate-character mode.
Richter Belmont
Opening hero and later encounter. Playable during the prologue, he later becomes central to an important branching outcome. Defeating him immediately is not the route to the full castle adventure.
Maria Renard
Investigator and ally. Her meetings help reveal the castle’s situation. Her playable availability differs by release; the original PlayStation campaign should not be described as a Maria playthrough.
Master Librarian
Shop and information contact. Sells useful supplies and the Jewel of Open. Return when your needs change rather than spending all gold during the first visit.
Ferryman
Underground travel contact. His boat service connects water routes. Look for the associated exploration requirements instead of assuming every flooded passage must be crossed by jumping.
Death
Recurring antagonist. His early intervention changes Alucard’s starting equipment situation. Build from the gear you actually retain rather than planning around the opening loadout.
Shaft and Dracula
Late-story antagonists. Their roles belong to the deeper castle route. Keep a separate save before major endings if you intend to explore different outcomes.
