Optional discoveries, useful collections and completion goals in Super Mario 64.

Course stars
Track each course’s named missions and its 100-coin star separately. The 100-coin reward appears where the milestone is reached, so choose a safe place to collect the final coins.
Castle secrets
Secret stars come from outside the usual course mission list. Revisit the castle, slide and special challenges instead of assuming every missing star is inside a painting.
Cap switches
Unlock the caps through their switch courses. These unlocks change what can be reached elsewhere and belong on a progress checklist alongside stars.
