01

Besaid, Kilika and Luca

The early pilgrimage introduces party roles and temple trials. Learn the difference between defeating a fiend and simply dealing damage: accuracy, armour and elemental weaknesses matter. Use each character’s strengths while the encounters are still forgiving, and collect temple treasures before moving on.

02

The highroads and Guadosalam

The Mi’ihen and Mushroom Rock stretch leads toward Djose and the Moonflow, then Guadosalam. Use save spheres to recover and review the Sphere Grid regularly. If battles begin taking much longer, check unused Sphere Levels and unactivated nodes before assuming your party needs a large amount of grinding.

03

Thunder Plains through Bevelle

The main route continues through Macalania and a series of major story transitions. Keep multiple saves, particularly before places that may become inaccessible. Al Bhed Primers are a separate collection, and some later locations contain missable entries, so use a primer-specific checklist if full collection matters to you.

04

Calm Lands and Mt. Gagazet

This stretch increases the demand for status management and sustained damage. Carry cures for disruptive ailments and inspect the upcoming turn order. Summoning an aeon can change the tactical situation, but an aeon should be part of a plan rather than your only response to every difficult attack.

05

Zanarkand and the final preparation phase

After the pilgrimage’s major revelations, later travel gives access to optional challenges and revisits. Save before the final commitment and choose whether your goal is the story ending or the much deeper optional content. Dark Aeons and other endgame differences depend on the regional release or HD version.
