Optional aeons and Celestial Weapons
Prepare for collection goals without confusing a weapon pickup with its full upgrade.

Collect Destruction Sphere treasures
The six relevant temple treasures are tied to Anima’s unlock at Baaj. Opening the associated chest matters, not merely seeing or moving the Destruction Sphere. Keep a temple-by-temple record. Zanarkand’s additional puzzle is handled on a return visit rather than by assuming the first visit contains every step.
Plan optional aeon routes separately
Yojimbo is associated with the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth. Anima requires the Baaj and temple-treasure conditions. The Magus Sisters involve Remiem Temple and additional requirements. These are distinct quest chains; recruiting one does not automatically complete the others.
Know the weapon upgrade sequence
Celestial Weapons require the Celestial Mirror and their corresponding Crest and Sigil to reach full strength. A newly found weapon can carry restrictive abilities, so equipping it immediately may be worse than keeping a normal weapon. The upgrades are performed at the special location in Macalania Woods.
Choose one character’s project first
Different Sigils involve different activities, including races, lightning dodging, blitzball or monster collection. Pick a project suited to the characters you use and the activities you enjoy. Finishing all seven is optional and can take much longer than the remaining main story.
Check regional and HD differences
Some late-game enemies can block revisits in versions with Dark Aeons. This makes collecting temple rewards during the initial route especially useful. Crest and Sigil naming can also vary by version or localisation, so match the item to the character and weapon instead of relying only on an astronomical name.
