Set up a safe base
Gather wood and make a workbench, then build a lit shelter with walls and an entrance. Give yourself a safe place to store items and regroup before exploring far from spawn.
Ask the Guide about materials
Use the Guide’s crafting help with a material to see what it can make. This is more reliable for your installed version than guessing which crafting station a recipe needs.
Organise short underground trips
Carry light sources, platforms and a way back. Store valuables between trips and expand gradually rather than pushing onward with full pockets and little health.
Prepare before triggering major progression
Bosses and world changes can make exploration more demanding. Improve your equipment and base first, and check a guide for your exact platform and version before making a major progression change.
