Episode progression and Corona Mountain
Follow the Shadow Mario requirements instead of treating every Shine as interchangeable.

Open areas through Delfino Plaza
New entrances appear as you advance the opening story and collect Shines. Return to the plaza and investigate new events between courses. Bianco Hills, Ricco Harbor and Gelato Beach introduce different movement challenges; learn their routes before trying to complete every optional objective.
Advance the numbered episodes
The seven main courses each have an Episode 7 Shadow Mario encounter. Completing those encounters is the crucial story goal for opening Corona Mountain. A large Shine total from blue coins or plaza secrets does not replace a missing Episode 7 clear.
Handle secret stages patiently
The first visit to many secret courses removes FLUDD. Practise jumps using Mario’s momentum and camera placement rather than expecting the hover nozzle to rescue a miss. Stop on stable platforms to line up the next movement; repeated rushed attempts make it harder to identify the actual mistake.
Use nozzles for their intended roles
Hover supports air correction, Rocket provides vertical height and Turbo supports fast movement through certain obstacles and routes. Before collecting a replacement nozzle, consider how you will reach the next target and whether you are giving up the tool needed for the return.
Prepare for the final route
After the Shadow Mario requirements, Delfino Plaza’s flood marks the next story transition. Corona Mountain combines hazards and boat control. Keep water available, move deliberately and separate optional blue-coin collection from your first successful attempt to reach the final battle.
