Ethan is the male protagonist option in the Johto remakes. If Lyra is selected, he becomes a supporting neighbour connected with the Day Care family.

Appearance

Ethan wears a backwards cap, a red jacket and practical travelling clothes.

Personality

The player supplies his decisions and battle style. His supporting role is friendly and informative rather than the hostile rivalry represented by Silver.

Role in the story

As protagonist he travels through Johto and Kanto, confronting Team Rocket and challenging two regions of Gym Leaders. The supporting version does not undertake the player’s exact route on screen.

Gameplay and encounters

His party is player-defined. Use the Pokégear, field moves and a balanced team to manage Johto’s roadblocks; there is no character-specific restriction on Pokémon types.
