Poe Souls, golden bugs and heart pieces
Track Twilight Princess’s optional collections without mixing their totals or rewards.

Know what each collection counts
There are 60 Poe Souls, 24 golden bugs and 45 Pieces of Heart in the original game. Five heart pieces make one Heart Container. Do not import Ocarina of Time’s four-piece rule. Use separate lists for each collection and note whether a reward has been handed in.
Hunt Poes in wolf form
Use wolf senses to see and fight Poes, then finish the interaction that collects the soul. Many outdoor Poes require night-time. If a familiar location appears empty in daylight, return at night before treating it as an incorrect map entry.
Collect golden bugs in pairs
Agitha’s collection contains male and female bugs of each kind. Check trees, walls and the ground around the marked region, and listen for their distinctive sound. A ranged tool can help retrieve a bug that is visible but just out of reach.
Return after major equipment upgrades
The Clawshot, Spinner and other tools open optional routes as well as story paths. Keep an equipment-based list of missed chests. Revisit several nearby barriers together when you gain the relevant tool instead of crossing Hyrule repeatedly for one uncertain chest.
Use regional maps that match your copy
Wii mirrors the GameCube geography; HD follows the GameCube orientation in its standard mode. Identify landmarks in addition to compass directions. If a guide’s screenshot appears reversed, check the edition before spending time on the wrong side of a field.
