A starter guide to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: check which map you are using, use wolf senses, return with new equipment, track optional collections separately.

Check which map you are using
The Wii version mirrors the GameCube world. Follow landmarks as well as left/right instructions, and use a map that matches your edition.
Use wolf senses
Wolf Link can detect trails and other clues that human Link cannot see. Try senses when a task asks you to track someone or investigate an apparently empty location.
Return with new equipment
Dungeon items unlock routes elsewhere in Hyrule. Make a note of blocked paths so you can check them after obtaining a new tool.
Track optional collections separately
Poe Souls and golden bugs are different collections with different rewards. Record their locations separately; night-time conditions matter when hunting many Poes.
