Story spoilers: This profile discusses character history and events in the game.
Link is featured in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess — Hero and playable protagonist. This profile covers their background, appearance, personality, story role and practical gameplay details.
Original GameCube and Wii releases; the Wii world is mirrored. HD differences are not covered.
Biography
Link is the player’s connection to the world: a hero whose identity is developed through exploration, relationships and acts of courage. The series repeatedly uses the name for different incarnations rather than one uninterrupted lifetime.
Appearance
The green tunic, pointed cap, sword and shield are familiar features, but age, clothing and art style vary by adventure. These games do not all depict the same individual Link.
Personality
He is usually quiet in spoken dialogue, with courage and concern for others expressed through actions. His precise reactions depend on the game, so the playful Wind Waker portrayal should not be treated as identical to Twilight Princess.
Role in the story
Each adventure gives him a different starting community and central crisis. Ocarina’s two ages, Majora’s repeating cycle, the Great Sea voyage and the two-world journeys are distinct stories with different companions.
Gameplay and encounters
His capabilities expand through tools, songs, transformations and dungeon rewards. Use this game’s equipment guide to identify the relevant upgrade; a familiar item name does not guarantee the same controls, acquisition point or puzzle behaviour.
